We're Back (I Think)!

Okay wow, hi everyone. If I’m being completely honest I really don’t know how to even start this blog. The last time we (and by we I mean me) spoke I was a junior in college. I talked about getting older and how scary it was, which is really ironic considering I would do anything to be back in the place I was nearly two years ago.

I don’t know what inspired me to start writing on this again, and truthfully I don’t know if the motivation will even last that long but I figured that while it was here I would take full advantage of it and pump out some content. I also will fully admit that one of the main reasons for me bringing Spit It Out back is thanks to my shiny new MacBook Pro that I bought for myself. She’s such a beauty and cost a pretty penny so this is partially me justifying the purchase and getting my money's worth.

Since it's been a minute, I figured I would give you all a brief life update on what's happened since I’ve last posted. First and most importantly, I graduated college! I received two degrees in Public Relations and Communications Studies and minored in Journalism and am honestly so proud of myself and would not have been able to do it without my family and friends support so if you’re reading this, thank you!. My senior year was filled with the most amazing memories and friends. I truly could not have asked for a better group of people to have had with me throughout my college experience and I will cherish my time spent at URI for the rest of my life.

After graduating I decided to spend the summer waitressing part-time to try and save money for my loan payments. Part of me wishes that I kept up with the blog just for story purposes. I waitressed in downtown Salem, Massachusetts and let me tell you I have some tales from that place, but I’m sure that will be another post for another time. At the peak of working at the restaurant I was working four shifts a week. Since then I am down to one which has its pros and cons. Pro: my sanity is slowly returning and I am a lot less stressed than I was during the summer/fall. Con: This job was my main source of income which means my bank account is starting to feel the pain.  I also started a part-time promotions assistant job at a radio station that I am still currently working at. This is the job that most pertains to my major and one that I hope I can use as the stepping stone towards my professional career. Basically I’m assistant in planning and setting up different events that the radio station puts on such as concerts, meet and greets, and sponsored events. Most recently, I also started working at a local farm selling wreaths and Christmas trees for the Winter season. Basically I’m a jack of all trades.

But the biggest change since we’ve last chatted is that I am now on the hunt for a full time job. I’m going to spare you all the details for now because I want to make a more in depth post about the job hunt and how it is going (spoiler alert: not well). However I will say this. If you are in college, please for the love of everything there is, cherish your time there. I have never been so lost and confused about what I’m supposed to do in my entire life but I’m finding comfort in the fact that I know I’m not alone in this and that all of my friends are going through the same thing.

When I first started this blog I wanted a place to put my thoughts. Finding an outlet to hold what goes on in my mind is something that I have always done, whether that be through writing or music, or social media. However, as Spit It Out makes its comeback (for as long as I feel inspired) I want to strive to make posts about my own experiences that people can relate to. I’m aware that as a 22-year-old girl I don’t know much and am still constantly learning. But what I do know is that whenever I find someone going through the same things that I am, I find comfort in the fact that I am not alone. If there's one thing I know, it's that there are a lot of people out there who have shared experiences and through those shared experiences, we can also find a community. I am truly so excited to revamp and rebuild this blog and cannot wait to see where it goes.

Below are a few pictures from 2023 that I want to share. Some highlights include graduating (obviously), senior week events, ATTENDING THE ERAS TOUR(!!!), and little moments throughout the year that made me smile. I also have decided to make a TikTok page for Spit It Out! How am I going to promote a blog that has no content other than reading? Great question! Let’s figure it out together. You can find the page @spititoutblog on TikTok, feel free to give it a follow.
